nutella caterpillar buns 毛毛虫面包


Cutie buns for kids! My son love this cute caterpillar buns! Soft buns with nutella filling, I also make some other shapes of buns by using the same bread recipe.
 

I had make 3 long bread for hotdog, 3 braided buns and 2 caterpillar buns. All kneading done by hand if you have time or else use mixer.

For shaping to caterpillar, flatten out round dough then cut stripes on one side, put fillings, roll & seal fillings.
Roll stripes to the back of the buns & seal.

ingredients: (makes 8 buns)

250g bread flour / all purpose flour
25g fine sugar
1 tsp instant dry yeast
1/2 tsp salt
160g water
30g butter
  1. mix all ingredients except butter
  2. knead about 20 minutes, add butter
  3. knead another 10 minutes
  4. rub dough with some oil, cover & rest for double in size or 1 hour
  5. oil or butter baking sheet, set aside
  6. press down fermented dough, divide into 8 portion, shape into your desired shape
  7. rest & prove dough for another 1 hour or double in size
  8. preheat oven at 190°C
  9. apply egg wash on top of the buns before baking
  10. bake buns at middle rack for 15 minutes until brown
  11. remove buns from baking sheet after take out from oven, cool on wired rack
