orange marble butter cake 橙香大理石黄油蛋糕

My husband love butter cake so much and he is my cake fans. I received a lot of good credit on this cake. So you have to try it out!

This time, I'm lazy to divide the butter so I decided to use the whole 250g butter and make some changes on the recipe on it. Less mess :)  We can finish this cake within 2 days!

Ingredients: (make one 8" x 8" cake)

250g butter (room temp.)

165g sugar
1 orange zest
3 tbsp orange juice
4 eggs
200g self raising flour (sift)
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp milk powder
3 tsp cocoa powder
2 tsp warm water

  1. grease cake pan. Preheat oven at 180℃.
  2. combine cocoa powder & warm water until no lump, set a side.
  3. in high speed of mixer, cream butter, sugar and orange zest until light & fluffy.
  4. add in eggs one at a time, add in flour part by part (4 parts).
  5. spoon out 4 tbsp of the batter out, add cocoa mixture & combine well.
  6. add in orange juice & zest into the rest of the batter. In low speed mix all ingredients until well combine & smooth.
  7. pour orange batter onto the greased cake pan then follow by the cocoa batter.
  8. use a knife or spatula to make swirl on the batter to make the marble effect.
  9. give a few bang on cake pan after complete to level the cake.
  10. bake 50 minutes or until a wooden skewer inserted into cake center and come out clean.
  11. leave the cake cool and enjoy it.
