home style long bean rice 家乡豆角饭



Long Bean Rice is one of my childhood favorites rice. I still remember my mom used to cook this rice and we all love it. The rice had the dry shrimps flavor and the long bean is soft. We all can eat a big bowl of rice!
I love cooking this, because it is easy and one pot dish. Minimum washing and time needed. Just press start button on rice cooker and you can simply enjoy the meal in 30 minutes time.

Ingredients: (serve 2-3 pax)
1 1/2 cups rice
2 1/2 cups water
a handful of dry shrimps (wash and soaked in water)
8 long beans (cut to 1 1/2 inch length)
5 chinese mushroom (strips)
some minced pork
3 shallots (minced)
1 clove garlic (minced)
1 tsp soy bean paste
1 tsp sugar
salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp oyster sauce
2 tsp light soy sauce
1 tsp dark soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
2 tbsp water

  1. add 1 tbsp of cooking oil into heated pan and sautee shallots and garlic until fragrant.
  2. add soy bean paste and keep stirring. Add minced pork, dry shrimps, mushroom and long bean. Keep stirring.
  3. add seasoning, salt, pepper, oyster sauce, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sesame oil and 2 tbsp water. Stir well. Covered about 5 minutes.
  4. off the heat and set aside.
  5. wash rice and drain. Pour in 2 1/2 cups of water into rice cooker pot. Press start button to cook.
  6. when rice start to boil and almost dry (about 10 minutes), open rice cooker cover and pour in cook meat and gravy. Mix all well. Cover rice cooker again and let rice to continue cooking.
  7. serve hot!
