This is one of my mom best recipe! Very easy to make with little ingredients. I was lazy to fried the pork belly so I use Roasted Pork Belly instead. Even more delicious if you keep the dish over night.
Ingredients:
1 yam (small size)
1 Roasted Pork Belly
12 shallots - minced
4 cloves of garlic - minced
1 tbsp soy bean paste
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1/2 tbsp light soy sauce
1 block "fu yu" & 1 tsp of "fu yu" juice
1 tsp salt
3 tsp sugar
1 tsp five spice
1 cup water
- cut yam & roasted pork belly into half inch thick.
- pour 2 cups hcooking oil into pot and fry yam until light brown in colour. Lightly fry pork belly as well.
- eat up oil in a wok and saute garlic until you smell the fragrance then add in shallots. About 2 to 3 minutes.
- add in soy bean paste, oyster sauce, light soy sauce, salt, sugar, five spice & "fu yu" and stir well. Cook it about 5 minutes. Add in water last.
- add fried yam & pork belly into the wok and stir well until all yam & pork belly is coated with the spice mixture. Keep stirring & cook for another 10 minutes.
- off heat and line up yam & pork belly in a medium bowl.
- lastly steam for 1 hour or until yam & pork belly become tender & soft.
